Lauren Scala (born February 10, 1982) is a television and web video host based in New York City. She currently serves as the traffic reporter on WNBC's Today in New York and the host of WNBC's Megaphone Interactive Trivia Game on Weekend Today in New York in the 9am broadcast. Scala [1] hosts a half hour show called Don't Miss This in collaboration with Time Out New York Magazine and New York Nonstop where she is spotted around town highlighting very desirable events and venues throughout the five boroughs. She also hosts New York Nonstop's Great American Health Challenge, a fitness-themed competition show. She is the on-air contributor for Time Out New York and makes various television appearances to talk about happenings around New York City, in addition to hosting a web series for the magazine, Time Out and About.[2] She appears in a weekly live segment on WNBC's Weekend Today in NY in the 6am broadcast called "Best Bets" [3] and in daily videos on the online retail site DiamondShark.com.
She began her hosting career at Time Out New York On Demand, where she also worked as an associate producer on several hundred New York City based lifestyle video segments before the channel concluded. She was the co-host of NYCTV's entertainment news roundup City Scoop [4] until January 2010. Scala has hosted pieces for Yahoo![1], BestBuy.com [2], Chic.tv,[5] and has appeared as a series regular on MTV's FNMTV. She has been seen in several television commercials and was in an episode of 30 Rock in 2007 [3]. She is also a member of the prestigious New York Women in Film and Television (NYWIFT).
In 2009, Scala hosted the official broadcast of the 52nd Annual New York Emmy Awards, which aired Thursday, April 9, 2009 on NYCTV, a division of NYC Media Group.
Scala grew up in Mineola, New York, and attended Mineola High School. She also attended Fordham University.
